I’m always on the look out for the best makeup and skin care out there.. and that is why Rustan’s is one of my favorite go-to places whenever I’m on the verge of replacing the current product I’m using.
Last week, Kathy of Rustan’s Makati gave me the opportunity to try Perricone and many other brands. When I went home, I immediately tried Perricone Cold Plasma.
Ohhh boy! It stinks! I am sorry for my husband and children for allowing them to smell this. 😆 It has a foul smell — like a dead fish. 🐟 It is because one of the ingredients of Cold Plasma is omega 3 fatty acids which can be found in fish oil. In my defense, Ruby of Perricone told me that it stinks; but it didn’t stop me from using it. Why?
Because of its great results! To be honest, I’ve tried a lot of skin care products already and I have my own personal favorites… but after trying Perricone Cold Plasma, I think the obsession in this brand has began.
This serum feels thin once applied and the smell tends to wear off as time goes by; so technically the fish smell isn’t an issue anymore. I haven’t found a product that gives excellent and fast results. Not until I met Perricone! Because of the smell, I can’t stand using it twice a day; but after using it once a day for 3 days, I noticed that Perricone Cold Plasma starts to tighten my pores and dissolve my skin blemishes.
My skin also feels supple. Yes it is expensive.. but this treatment works deep into our skin cells. What more can we ask for? Perricone is the crème de la creme of all skin care products. I do not regret smelling it if in return I’ll experience fast and noticeable results. 😊
How to use Cold Plasma?
- Wash your face then use toner. Apply on face day and night. Ignore the smell. 😅
- Use other skin care products that you have (moisturizers, eye cream, other treatments). Cold Plasma helps to easily absorb all the other skin care products you apply afterwards.
The 2nd skin care product I’ve tried from Perricone is the High Potency Evening Repair. As usual I was hesitant to use it because it contains retinol. Retinol has its own advantages and disadvantages. Retinol is best to be used by users who have oily skin type. It is said to decrease the production of oil in our skin which in return will make our pores smaller.
Retinol is used to help slow the effects of aging. It repairs and rejuvenates the skin. Though it causes skin to peel; the exfoliating effect is a sign of increased cellular turnover and removal of dead skin cells.
Unfortunately, retinol increases photosensitivity; this is the very reason why this product is meant to be used during night time. Once the sun goes up, it’s best to protect our skin with SPF or expect the possible consequences.
Retinol causes the skin to become extra sensitive to sunlight because it exposes fresh skin. All skin care treatments that exfoliate heavily have this effect because new skin is very delicate. It burns easier, and is also prone to discoloring with sun exposure. Using sunblock daily is essential. Thus, retinol products should be used in the evening only.
If the user has dry skin, moisturizer is needed to avoid a drier skin. Users with normal skin type should start using creams to moisturize the dry skin that retinol could bring. Initial irritation is normal as the skin gets used to retinol. Gradual introduction of retinol to the skin will help. For SPF protection, try Clarins SPF protector. It is also best to consider using a tinted moisturizer that has high SPF.
High Potency Evening Repair feels thicker when compared to Cold Plasma. It has a distinctive smell but tolerable compared to what Cold Plasma has. I actually prefer smelling the natural scent of its ingredients rather than adding fragrance that might cause hypersensitivity reactions. I’ve been using it for 3 days now (without the Cold Plasma) and the results are fantastic! I now have softer and radiant skin. I can’t believe to see great results in a matter of days. I have Kathy and Ruby to thank. ☺
I’ll bid adieu to Clarins for the meantime. I’m now aiming to have a clearer skin and a more natural look which became possible because of Perricone. For once I actually had hope to go out of the house without makeup on. 😅 My skin looked expensive again. 💁
