OOTD : Boho Cherry Chic

I loooove fashion and lately.. I’m into crop tops and loose skirt.. apparently, that makes me a boho chic – breezy, comfortable and carefree. You gotta love this side of me!

To complete the look, it is vital to make a fashion statement by having nice accessories and a good makeup look to complement it with.

The look won’t be possible without having nice eyeshadow colors that will be the highlight of the whole look.

Lately, I learned the importance of having a trusted eyeshadow base. I changed my eye primer and look at how my eyeshadows look using that “new primer.”

Apparently, tinted primers make the eyeshadow color dull and less pigmented. I tried and tested with other brands, same thing happened. After a few weeks of failing and disappointment, we decided to go back to my holy grail eyeshadow primer from NARS.

It is a lightweight eye primer that dries instantly and turns into a matte finish. Eyeshadow color stays true while it extends the wear of eye products. It protects the eyeshadow from creasing or smudging. I’ve been using it for YEARS.. I don’t know what came into my head that led me to change a brand. Ahhh! I know – SEPHORA SALE! 🤦‍♀️

Because Nars caught my attention again, I called their Rustan’s branch and talked to Arvie about their products. Something caught my attention — SETTING POWDERS!

At first I was really hesitant because I’m not a fan of setting powders.. and for me, nothing beats my MAC x Patrick Starrr powders.

I already love Fenty’s setting powder but I can’t trust Sephora lately (another story someday) and for some reason, I trusted Nars again. I also don’t like that both Fenty and MAC tend to make my makeup look patchy when my skin is dry.

Good thing I trusted my guts. Oh it melts like butter on my skin. If Patrick Starrr has thicker texture than Fenty.. Nars has the thinnest! It is weightless with luminous finish – making my skin beautiful under any lighting. It is translucent but it doesn’t make your skin look white. It doesn’t cast, leaving you photoshoot-ready anytime of the day.

I appreciate Arvie for educating me on the difference of this powder and their Soft Velvet Loose Powder. He told me how important it is to have a translucent lightweight powder. I learned that the more stuff you put on your skin, the heavier and cakier it looks – plus the fact that colored loose powders can actually make your skin darker or whiter than usual. Kudos Arvie for all the knowledge you imparted to me.

I appreciate MAC for coming up with the most exciting, non-wearable lipstick colors in the world. I thank them because though Filipinas don’t usually wear wild colors, they still catered and brought at least few stocks here in the Philippines. I mean…

It’s like a lip gloss with a thick texture that can either look like a 3D finish or gloss-like depending on your choice. It is “weightless but creamy”, “moisturizing but not sticky” formula.

It bleeds and feathers like crazy but I love that it doesn’t move once you blot your lips. You can also apply the lip lacquer thinly to avoid transfer. Unfortunately, the color and finish will look so light that you can’t appreciate its dimension anymore.

After trying that out, I bought more colors.

It is a deep burgundy that looks so sexy on the lips. I love that it leaves a lip stain even after eating/drinking (approximately 10 to 12 hours). It doesn’t leave my lips dry and it is so true to its color. Its lip brush is so easy to use and not at all messy; the best part is the comfort it brings as I apply it on my lips.. no need to prep, scrub or use a primer.

Boho chic style is an easy to pull off fashion statement — very comfortable and fun to wear. You can either look simple or sexy depending on your makeup and style.. but at the end of the day.. it is a classy way of carrying yourself!
