The Donut Man

The ring donuts/croughnuts : It describes the emptiness inside our hearts. People can see that we are empty and it reflects on how we react in every situation we are in.

Sadly, we can also be like :

The left-over donuts : Sometimes we are not just a ring donut. We are so tired and down that we look like a leftover donut without any toppings (happiness) anymore. When we are empty, we tend to fill our hearts and get it from other things. Like when we get it from a person – we tend to get strength and happiness from a person. That person will also lose something from his donut (heart/self). So it can be a temporary filling to your hole but soon that person will also get something from you (your donut). So both of you will have more holes.. And so on and so forth.. If you get the filling from material things – it may temporary fill your hole but if you always get your happiness from money, the donut (money) will soon be gone. So where will you get the filling for your own hole? We are nothing but a leftover donut who keeps on trying to get happiness from a person or from worldly things.

Matthew 6:19-21

19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Great news!

Munchkin – this describes God’s ability to fill the GOD-SHAPED HOLE in our hearts. Nobody can fill that hole but GOD alone. I chose a munchkin to describe GOD because a munchkin cannot just cover the hole. It can give you an OVERFLOW. An overflow that everybody can see; even others can experience God’s goodness through you! God doesn’t want us to just be filled. He wants us to OVERFLOW!

Romans 15:13

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

But the best thing is this : 

Filled Donut – God has the ability to renew your mind and change your heart. God doesn’t want you to have an old heart with an expectation to always have a hole (ring donut). He doesn’t want you to feel empty ever again! God wants us to be whole and overflow just like a filled donut. God wants us to have a new heart filled with joy, happiness, and peace that only God can give. We will have the ability to overflow and share what we have to others so they too can experience the feeling of being filled.

When you eat a filled donut, it will really spill and just like that, we too can experience that change of heart where people can’t see your limitations and weakness anymore; but they can see that you never lack anything because you have everything in GOD.

2 Colossians 4:16

Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.

In times we feel empty, let us remember our reason for living – GOD! Let us stop chasing the wind (money, relationships, career, properties, fame) — it will always be meaningless. But let us start chasing God and start living a meaningful and overflowing life.
